Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What exactly is blipshift?

A: blipshift is where you can find fresh and awesome limited edition T-shirts and other apparel for automotive enthusiasts. Every week beholds new designs for just $15. Once a shirt’s run is done, we’re off to the next one. We have short attention spans.

Q: Who are the geniusesjokers behind blipshift?

A: For more information on blipshift’s Fantastic Automotive Pilots (as they prefer to be called but are definitely not), visit the About Us page.

Q: What happened to last week’s amazing shirt?

A: New shirt designs go up for sale every Monday and every Thursday at 10PM ET. Once the sale is over, that design is retired. If you see something you like and it hasn't sold out yet, order it before it’s too late! If you see a sold out tee you gotta have, sign up for our Notify Me list for that design. If all else fails perhaps you can find one for sale on Craigslist -- check in the M4S - Men seeking Shirts section under Missed Connections.

Q: Seriously, can't I buy a shirt after a sale?

A: Anytime we do a production run of shirts we print the number ordered plus a handful of extras because we're no good at math and nice round numbers don't hurt our heads as much. If you want to own a design you should order it during the sales period! Any extra shirts from production runs will be put into Our Garage for sale only AFTER already purchased shirts have been shipped. They are $18 plus normal shipping charges (shame on you for not ordering earlier!) and extremely limited in quantity. We won't have all designs or sizes, so no whining*. To see if your size is available just look for any design in Our Garage with the green light and that'll tell you if there's any available.

* If a design you love is no longer available sign up on our Notify Me list for that design. We may contemplate bringing old favorites back.

Q: What shirts do you use?

A: We normally use Men's Next Level 3600 Fitted Tees (and Next Level 3900 for Women's tees) which are 100% ringspun 4.3oz cotton, except Heather Gray which is 10% Poly and 110% awesome, as our internal evaluation determined they offer an excellent combination of fit, comfort, quality and price. If necessary due to national t-shirt supply limitations, we may substitute comparable quality products from Gildan or Anvil.

Our Men's Long Sleeves are Hanes 5186 Beefy-T (100% ringspun 6oz cotton) for extra durability and comfort. And our Men's Heavy Duty (HD) tees are also Hanes Beefy-Ts, but lacking the sleeves of the long sleeved version.

The Men's Hoodies are Gildan 18500 (50/50 cotton/poly, 7.75oz, no-pill Air Jet yarn).

Q: What size do I need?

A: We can’t see your body (not yet; we understand that Google is working on solving that) but Next Level Fitted shirts tend to be a little more, uh, fitted than other tees, so order accordingly. That means get the next size up if you’re not sure. Here’s a handy size chart to help you make your decision.

Q: How are your shirts printed?

A: All of our shirts are printed using a proprietary blend of used synthetic motor oil and unicorn tears through a state-of-the-art screen-printing processes under the expert guidance of artisans and their robot overlords, right here in 'Merica.

Q: Do your shirts shrink?

A: Like a frightened turtle. Since our shirts are made from 100% cotton (well, mostly; yeah, we’re looking at you Heather Gray), they will shrink slightly when you wash them. In our tests they gave up 5-10% after a few cycles in hot. YMMV.

If you want them to shrink as little as possible, we recommend washing your blipshift shirts in ice water and hanging them to dry under the light of a waning moon. If for some reason you want your shirts to shrink a lot (Your cabbage soup diet worked! You discovered Spanx!) then by all means, wash them in your radiator runoff and dry them on your exhaust manifold.

A normal routine of wash cold, dry low should be just fine but you already ordered a size up since you're borderline, right?

Q: Can I get a design as poster instead?

A: Sure! Blipshift posters are Giclee* printed with archival inks on heavy matte paper (192 gsm, 10.3 mil). Size is as indicated but will usually be 12" x 18", 18" x 12" or 16" x 16" depending on what best suits the design. All posters are printed with a 1/4" white border and blipshift logo.

*Giclee is a fancy-pants term for a super high end ink-jet printer using special pigmented inks that better reproduce colors and last a long time. Most inks we use are made by either Canon or Epson. Under normal conditions, our prints should not fade for many years. We do not recommend hanging the finished work in direct sunlight. We do recommend hanging the finished artwork in your dingy garage.

Posters are rolled in newsprint and shipped in a durable cardboard tube. Posters ordered with shirts may be combined by our fulfillment team to minimize shipping costs.

Q: Who designs your shirts?

A: Our tees are designed by either the mad geniuses that work for us, or more often, when our genius threatens to cross the border into insanity, we rely on a collective of auto-enthusiasts and artists from around the world. Each selected shirt’s description includes a short bio of the artist, including links to their portfolio of other work.

Q: I have an awesome design/idea, what do I do?

A: We’re always looking for new talent. If you are interested in joining in the fun and making serious coinage (we pay in sacks of blips, ie, nickels, unless you prefer PayPal) check out our Art Submission Page.

Q: Do your artists get paid?

A: We understand that artists need to buy tires and brake pads too! We pay each artist $1 per shirt sold with a guaranteed minimum per design AND the artist keeps full rights to their design, subject to the conditions in our T&C contract. If they so desire, after an appearance on blipshift, contributing artists can hawk their wares elsewhere.

Q: When will I get my awesome shirt?

A: Once an order is placed it usually takes less than 10 business days for us to print and process each design after the sale period for sale design has ended. After your order is processed it will be shipped. Time in transit for shipping from our warehouse to your front door can take anywhere from a few days to about a week, depending on how far away you live from our nexus of awesomeness. Here's an overview of the steps involved.

Q: How much does shipping cost?

A: For orders within the continental U.S., shipping and handling for one apparel item (tee, poster, pack of socks, tie, hoodie, etc) is $3.45 each. Shipping and handling for 2 apparel and/or poster items is $5.95. Order 3 or more apparel and/or poster items and they all ship free! For international shipping rates, check out our shipping info page.

Q: To what countries do you ship all this awesomeness?

A: We are proud to ship our awesomeness worldwide! Please note that any international tax obligations are solely your responsibility to fulfill. If you have any concerns about shipments to your country don't hesitate to contact us.

Q: What if my awesome shirt has a problem?

A: If you need to return your shirt due to our mistake (either a manufacturing defect or because you received the wrong shirt or size) please contact us to request return instructions. All returns must be within 30 days from the date of purchase and item(s) must be unworn and unwashed. We regret that returns because you simply ordered the wrong size or changed your mind are not possible, so please do order carefully. Please include your order number on the contact form. Be aware that due to the limited-edition nature of our products, exchanges for a different size are usually not possible.

Q: Do you sell gift cards?
Does a bear shirt in the woods? Huh? Nevermind. Heck yeah we sell gift cards! Right here.

Q: Do gift cards expire?
Only if you outlive blipshift... and that could be a long long time cuz we're downing a raw egg every day Rocky style. So nope, gift cards don't expire.

Q: I have a gift card. How do I use it?!?!
Easy. Just check out normally and you'll have the option to redeem your gift card. Any unused balance will remain valid for future purchases too.

Q: How can I contact you?

A: If you have questions that are still unanswered after reading this or suggestions of any sort, hit us up through Contact Us. We like feedback!
